Ferragamo

Salvatore Ferragamo is a brand known for the meticulous attention to detail and the choice of high-quality materials that it reserves for all its creations. This has allowed the brand to continue to grow since 1927. Salvatore Ferragamo products have that kind of perennial charm that goes beyond passing fashion and for this reason they manage to enter history.

From Italy to America and back
Ferragamo, a footwear designer from Campania, emigrated to the United States in the 1920s, then returned to Italy in 1927 and opened the "Calzaturificio Ferragamo & C." where women's shoes were produced, initially intended only for the American market.

Unfortunately this first attempt was not successful, especially due to the tragic situation of the global economic crisis, so in 1933 Ferragamo declared bankruptcy.
In 1938, thanks to new ideas and a registered patent, Ferragamo managed to purchase Palazzo Spini Feroni and open a shop in London and one in Rome, followed in 1948 by one in New York.
After the Second World War, the company recorded a strong growth and in 1951 it appeared for the first time on the catwalk during a fashion show in Florence. On that occasion Ferragamo showed its symbol for the first time: the famous "gancini" (in the shape of an omega) used as an ornament on shoes, bags and clothing.

Fondazione Ferragamo
